To help celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month and the Privacy Matters @ UBC Symposium, we're excited for the return of our fun and informative online Scavenger Hunt!

This scavenger hunt challenges you to test your knowledge of UBC's online privacy and information security practices. You'll gain valuable insights while participating in a friendly competition by locating the answers to a series of clues.

Clues will be posted every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from October 1st to October 24th, 2024 (12 clues total).

New clues will be unveiled on the designated days on this page.

How to Participate

Deciphering the Clues:

You will need a computer or mobile device with internet access.

Each day, a new clue will be posted on this page. Use the clue to locate the answer by diligently searching one of these three key UBC resources:

  1. Privacy Matters @ UBC
  2. UBC Information Security Standards
  3. UBC University Counsel's Access and Privacy Resources webpage

Submitting Your Answer:

Once you have found the answer click on the ‘Submit Response’ button inside of the corresponding date drop-down.

 

Important Considerations

Answers could be one or two words, phrases, or short sentences.

Careful observation is key! Some clues might necessitate combining information from multiple websites or drawing inferences from the text.

Each clue in our Scavenger Hunt will be revealed below on its designated date.

Don't worry if you miss a day; you can always revisit past clues! You must submit all 12 correct answers by October 28th for a chance to win a prize. The prize winner* will be revealed on October 30 during the Privacy Matters @ UBC Symposium.
