UBC Cybersecurity Summit

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month

To celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the UBC Cybersecurity Team will be holding the inaugural UBC Cybersecurity Summit on October 18, 2018. We hope that you can join us for a presentation and discussion on creating better security practices and safeguards to combat cybercrime at home and at work. The day will consist of a speaker presentation and an open house, and you are welcome to attend one or both. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Pastries and coffee will be available from 9:00 - 9:30, with opening remarks at 9:30 am.

Keynote Speaker:

During this session we will discuss the current cybersecurity threats in the public industry as well as share some advice on best practices for cybersecurity. Included in the session will be an overview of the current trends in cybersecurity threats and the general protections that can assist in protecting you from them. This session will also broach the subject of cybersecurity’s greatest threat and a detailed (non-technical) review of how to identify and react to it. Wrapping up the session will identify what services are out there to support organisations within the Province of British Columbia.

The events are open to all UBC staff and faculty. If you would like to attend, please RSVP. It is a great opportunity to hear from different perspectives on cybersecurity in today’s digital world.
