Advanced Malware Protection to be deployed this June at UBC's Okanagan Campus

June 04, 2018

As part of the ongoing effort to prevent malware on the UBC network, UBC Cybersecurity will be deploying Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) at UBC's Okanagan campus. The system will be deployed in audit mode only for UBC-owned desktop computers in the Okanagan.

The implementation of AMP will be transparent and will have no impact for users. However, you may notice a new icon AMP Icon in your system tray.

The AMP system will provide an extra layer of protection as a complement to UBC’s current malware protection (Sophos). The system will work to detect, contain, and remove advanced malware.

Additional information about the AMP system is available on the Confidential Communications website at https://cc.cybersecurity.ubc.ca/cisco-amp *

* Please note: you will need a CWL and be connected to the UBC Network to access the Confidential Communications website.
